I can't believe I'm writing this, but it's true: we cancelled our cable account! And......it was Eddie's idea!
There we were, driving along in Puerto Rico, when Eddie sudenly proposed that when we get back to Connecticut we cancel our cable and get a Netflix account instead.
I was stunned. Shocked. Struck by the desire to sabotage his plan and cling to the same cable I've been rejecting for months now.
But I reeled that in, got behind him, thanked him for his generosity and his readiness, and here we are....10 days into 2012, 75 days into my tv diet, and we have no cable.
You see, Eddie loves tv. I hate it. Eddie turns the tv on first thing in the morning and turns it off at the last possible second each night. I prefer quiet so much that when I'm alone in the house the tv very rarely comes on (even before the tv diet). TV has been a constant source of compromise in our marriage, so this decision is HUGE.
I don't know how it's going to go. We do have Netflix, Hulu, and abc.com, so we're not completely without our favorite television shows and movies. But I think there'll be an adjustment period. And I don't think Eddie will be the only one adjusting.
